The Israelites are given instructions about the invasion, and, about conquering the Land of Canaan and ridding it of all remnants of idolatry. The people are warned of the danger of allowing the Canaanites to dwell amongst them lest the Canaanites induce the Israelites to sin. The borders of the Land of Israel are delineated starting from the south and working west, then north and east, including the lands of Sichon and Og east of the Jordan River.

| Thoughts to Consider and Discuss |
1. If the Land is to be distributed by lottery, why are the people instructed to give more land to the more populous tribes and smaller portions to the smaller tribes (Numbers 33:54)?
2. How closely do the biblical borders of Israel (Numbers 34:3-13) correspond to the borders of the modern day State of Israel?
3. See Judges 1:28. Did the Israelites follow G-d's instructions? Explain.
