LAWRENCE AND RIVERDALE RESIDENTS CHAIR AMIT PRESIDENT'S EVENING

March 9, 2004, New York City......Sheryle Spar, a resident of Lawrence, New York, and Ina Tropper of Riverdale have been named co-chairs of the AMIT President's Evening. The annual event has been scheduled for Sunday, April 25, 2004, at the Museum of Jewish Heritage-A Living Memorial to the Holocaust.

Dr. Shnayer Leiman, professor of Judaic studies at Brooklyn College and Yeshiva University, will be the featured speaker.

Sheryle Spar, who currently serves as national corresponding secretary of AMIT, became a life member of the organization in 1968. She served on the Presidium of AMIT's Beersheva Chapter in Far Rockaway in the 1970s, and upon the loss of her mother, Hattie Thum (a lifelong, active member), committed herself to continuing the family legacy of working on behalf of AMIT.

Ina Tropper, AMIT's regional vice president for New York/New Jersey/Connecticut, has been a member of the Gloria Sheer Chapter in Riverdale for more than 30 years. She has served in various positions, including president of the chapter and programming chair. Ms. Tropper instituted the AMIT Rosh Chodesh Shiur (study group) in Riverdale and chaired many fund raising activities. On the national level, she has served as co-chair of organization and as programming chair, instituting an annual seminar as well as the Day of Learning.

The President's evening, which will include docent-led tours of the exhibitions at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, is $500 per person. Please call 212-477-4720, ext. 137, for further information and reservations.
